RFI

A Request for Information (RFI) is a formal request sent by a company to potential suppliers to gather general information about their capabilities, products, or services. It is an early stage in the procurement process, aimed at exploring the market and gaining an initial overview of possible suppliers.

An RFI typically does not include detailed specifications but asks for comprehensive, high-level information to understand which suppliers might be suitable. Companies use this step to narrow down their supplier options and clarify requirements for later stages of the selection process (such as RFP or RFQ). RFIs help avoid unnecessary offers and focus the search on the most relevant providers.

For example, a company that wants to introduce new IT services but is unsure which technologies or approaches are available might use an RFI to collect general technical and functional possibilities.

Relatico can support this process by providing a platform where RFIs are centrally managed and the information received is organized and analyzed. This streamlines the flow of information and enables companies to make more informed decisions.
